It has been four years since we first launched the EYETHU MEERKAT industrial theatre piece. Through careful development and constant nurturing we have kept the story line alive and appropriate over three years while hundreds of men and woman have experienced it.
Now we will see the theatre piece, with a longstanding scope, taking even further steps into the life of the mine as the development crews start their team development process. They will join over 35000 of their colleagues in the opportunity to experience the Pumalo Africa theatre product as part of their ‘full sensory’ team development process in this multi-year intervention.
This piece of theatre is performed in a state-of-the-art ‘theatre’ that we established with the mine training and development academy. It boasts world class sound and intelligent lighting equipment that allows us to deliver a full sensory product, with quadraphonic sound effects and supporting video and intelligent lighting media. Up to 150 employees attend each performance which becomes the platform for another two days of facilitation in the mobilization intervention at the training campus.
To refer to an article in the company annual report, ‘this industrial theatre tool has proven to be a valuable enabler of safety and productivity mindsets’ in the mining industry.
